American forward Christian Pulisic netted direct from a corner kick for the Italian giants AC Milan in their UEFA Champions League 2024-25 group stage game against Club de Brugge on Tuesday.

During the 34th minute of the game at the fabled San Siro, and the game very much in the balance, the 26-year-old lined up to take the corner from the right and went on to curl it into the net past Simon Mignolet.

To make things more difficult for the Belgian side, Raphael Onyadika was given the marching orders by the referee in the 40th minute of the game.

Brugge, however, restored parity with a 51st-minute effort from Kyriani Sabbe, as the Belgians pulled level.

Milan inched ahead minutes later as Tijjani Rijnders struck in the 61st minute to move ahead 2-1. Dutchman Rijnders went on to add another in the 71st minute of the game to put his side two ahead.

Milan lost their opening game of the revamped UCL with a 1-3 defeat at the hands of English side Liverpool as Pulisic’s early strike three minutes into the game went in vain with Ibrahima Konate, Virgil Van Dijk and Dominik Szoboszlai all finding the net for the Red on the road.

Milan’s fortunes did not turn out to be better in their second outing in this year’s edition of the elite European tournament as they travelled to Bayer Leverkusen only to return empty-handed yet again as Xabi Alonso’s men sealed all three points on offer thanks to Victor Boniface’s lone strike.
