With the win, Rajasthan Royals also ended their four-match losing streak as they bested Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the Eliminator.
Sanju Samson and Ravichandran Ashwin seemed to be on cloud nine after Rajasthan Royals edged past Royal Challengers Bengaluru to make their way into Qualifier 2 of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL). Upon returning to the team hotel, the duo celebrated by having a cake.
RR shared a glimpse of the celebration on X (formerly Twitter).
In the video, Ashwin was spotted asking Samson to have a bite of the cake.
In a heartwarming gesture, the RR captain came forward and fed Ashwin a portion.
The camaraderie was certainly loved by the other players, who cheered for the duo with a big round of applause.
Sri Lankan legend Kumar Sangakkara, the director of cricket of the IPL team, was also present in the hotel lobby.
A few members of the RR support staff were there to capture the beautiful moment featuring the Indian cricketers.
The post was an instant hit on social media, with fans wishing RR luck for the remaining assignments of this IPL.
One of the users, however, felt it was too early to celebrate the win with a cake as RR needs to win two more matches to secure the title.
“We haven’t won the trophy, what’s the use of cutting a cake? We have a lot of work to do. A short celebration after the match where the players went out to dinner would be enough, there is no need for this. We still have to face strong teams,” the person wrote in the comment box.
Another RR fan showed his admiration for Ashwin, highlighting his exceptional spell against Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the IPL Eliminator.
The user wrote, “Great performance. High chance of lifting the cup. Very grounded and down-to-earth performer. All the best, Ashwin -Another Gem of Indian cricket.”
Impressed by the fighting spirit of RR , a person commented, “Well done RR! Whether you win the cup or not doesn’t matter, you have played like how champs do! with the bat and ball and also with your attitude.”
Ashwin, who was struggling to find form, appeared at his best in the Eliminator in Ahmedabad. He picked the crucial wickets of Cameron Green and Glenn Maxwell as RR restricted RCVB to 172/8 in 20 overs.
Ashwin was quite economical during his four-over spell, giving away only 19 runs. Thanks to his superb performance, the 37-year-old Indian spinner was named the Player of the Match.
RR did seem to lose way in the middle but recovered to register a four-wicket win.
