During a presser ahead of France’s Euro 2024 opener, a journalist had mistakenly addressed Thuram as ‘Kylian’, following which Thuram jokingly remarked, ‘Kylian? I’m more handsome than Kylian. I don’t look like a ninja turtle.’
French football team forward Marcus Thuram came up with a hilarious response to a journalist after he was mistaken for skipper Kylian Mbappe. The comical incident took place while Thuram was speaking to the press ahead of France’s Euro 2024 fixture against Austria scheduled to be played on Tuesday. During the pre-match press conference, a journalist had mistakenly called Thuram ‘Kylian’. Replying to the reporter, Thuram jokingly remarked, “Kylian? I’m more handsome than Kylian. I don’t look like a ninja turtle.” The Inter Milan footballer then came up with a big smile to ensure that the press understood he was joking about the French football team skipper.
France will kick off their Euro 2024 journey with a game against Austria on Tuesday. Ahead of France’s Euro 2024 opener, Thuram also asked his fellow countrymen “to fight daily” to stop the far right from usurping power.
“I think the situation is sad. It’s very serious. I learned about it after (Sunday’s friendly) match against Canada. We were all shocked in the dressing room. It’s the sad reality of our society today … As Ousmane said, we must tell everyone to go and vote. We all need to fight daily so that this doesn’t happen and that the National Rally (party) does not succeed,” Thuram said as per news agency AP.
“I hope that everyone shares my opinion in the France team. I understand that some players can come here and just say people should vote, but I don’t think that’s enough, you have to also explain how we got here and the seriousness of the situation. There is no doubt in my mind that everyone thinks like me in the France squad,” he added.
Thuram had a terrific last season representing Inter Milan. The 26-year-old registered 15 goals for Inter Milan in the 2023-24 season. Thuram arrived at San Siro on a free transfer last summer.
Apart from Thuram in forward, the French football team will heavily rely on Kylian Mbappe at the Euro 2024. Mbappe had completed a much-awaited move to Real Madrid from Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) earlier this summer.
Mbappe assumed the leadership role in the France football team following goalkeeper Hugo Lloris’ retirement. Managed by Didier Deschamps, the two-time European champions France, under the leadership of Mbappe, are one of the favourites to lift the trophy once again this time.
