Sarfaraz Ahmed, Babar Azam, Shahid Afrid and Hasan Ali have all been subject to abuses from the public after disappointing performances for Pakistan over the years.
With Haris Rauf’s confrontation video doing the rounds on the internet, a social media user managed to compile a list of times Pakistani players were subject to insults and taunts from fans after humbling performances on the international stage.
The video of Pakistani seamer Haris Rauf’s altercation is doing the rounds on social media after the pacer’s confrontation with a fan who had allegedly abused him following the exit of his side from the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup 2024 in the USA and West Indies.
The pacer was restrained by his wife as the tension dissipated following the fan hurling insults at the bowler after being denied a photograph.
As the video went viral, a social media user managed to compile a list of times Pakistani players were subject to insults and taunts from fans after humbling performances on the international stage.
In one instance, a Pakistan fan filmed himself abusing former captain Sarfaraz Ahmed after the side had lost their 2019 World Cup encounter against India. The fan had the audacity to ask Ahmed, “Why are you fat as a pig?”
Another time, Hasan Ali, who dropped the catch to let the wicket of Matthew Wade slip during Pakistan’s 2021 World Cup encounter against Australia, cost them the match, he was subjected to insults from a fan during a domestic game, which caused Ali to lose his cool.

Pakistan skipper Babar Azam was also not exempt from the trend as he lost his composure when fans labelled him ‘Zimbabur’ following a string of poor performances.
The legendary Shahid Afridi too came under scrutiny after his forgettable showing against India in the 2007 World Cup and was insulted and jostled by fans back home.
Pakistan suffered an early exit from the T20 extravaganza as they crashed out in the Group stages of the ICC showpiece with India and hosts USA making it out of Group A, which pitted India, USA, Pakistan, Canada and Ireland in the race for Super 8 stage.
