In Hindu Dharma, the lord Shiva’s importance multiplies manifold during Sawan. Hindu devotees believe one can win the special grace of lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu in this holy month. During the Shravan month, the holiest time, as per the Hindu Calendar, all the devotees perform Jalabhishek and Rudrabhishek on the Shivling and worship Lord Shiva in the morning. It is believed that Lord Bholenath fulfils all the wishes of his followers during this month. Along with Rudrabhishek and Jalabhishek, offering Belpatra to Lord Shiva and planting a Belpatra plant in the house is also considered auspicious during this month. Shubham Tiwari, priest of Shri Sachcha Akhileshwar Mahadev Temple located in Rishikesh, Uttarakhand lists the benefits of planting Belpatra plant during this month.
While talking to Local 18, Shubham Tiwari said that the month of Sawan holds a special significance in Hindu Dharma. This month is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is also called Shravan month. In this month, devotees keep fast on Monday and offer water and milk to the Shivling. Along with this, Belpatra, which is very dear to Lord Shiva, is also offered. According to the belief, to please Lord Shiva, a Bel plant can be planted in the house in the month of Sawan. Hindu devotees believe that Lord Shiva fulfils the wishes of those who worship him with Belpatra Plant.
Priest Shubham said that a good pot is needed if you aspire to plant the Belpatra plant at home. It is better if the pot is made of soil, he added. After this, put sandy or stony soil in the pot. The seed found in the Bel fruit is used for the plantation.
Before planting it, wash and dry the seed. It should be noted that it may take three to four years for the plant to grow. Priest Shubham said that this plant needs a lot of water for the growth. The plant also needs enough sunlight to grow. Keep the pot of the vine plant in a place where it gets direct sunlight. Eucalyptus or neem can be used to protect the plant from insects.
