Bobby Deol opens up about how Salman Khan helped him get noticed by youngsters, recalls being chubby in childhood | Hindi Movie News – Times of India
Bobby Deol, a well-known actor since the 1990s, recently made a big splash with his role in Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s film ‘Animal.’ This movie is seen as his major comeback to the big screen. Recently, Bobby Deol has been posting stylish photos on social media, showing off his fit physique. He admitted in an interview that he is shopaholic and also talked about how Salman Khan helped change his career.
In an interview with Curly Tales, the Yamla Pagla Deewana actor admitted that he wanted to be part of big films because the younger generation didn’t know much about him, “I knew that if I worked with Salman, they would all go to watch the film, and they would notice this actor called Bobby, and it worked,” he recalled, further adding that after ‘Housefull 4,’ little kids started recognizing him because of the comedy film.
Bobby was also seen in Prakash Jha‘s web series ‘Aashram’, which according to him made a huge difference in his career, “I think OTT was something where I, as a character, got a chance to do characters that I was dying to do. It started with Class of 83, then I got Aashram, got Love Hostel, and it all collectively helped him move forward.” He also added that one of his photographs made Sandeep Reddy Vanga cast him in the role as Abrar in ‘Animal’.
During the same interview, the ‘Housefull 4’ actor admitted that his only wish is to be able to shop whenever he wants. “I mean, every time, every day, your choices keep changing. I am a shopaholic,” he said. He added that as a kid, he used to hate shopping.
Taking a trip down memory lane, Bobby Deol shared that as a kid, he was chubby. When he went shopping with his mother, Parkash Kaur, he would get annoyed because no kid’s clothes fit him. They had to shop in the adult section, but while the waist size fit, the length did not.
After he became tall and lost weight at 15, Bobby Deol went shopping with his father, Dharmendra. Since Dharmendra didn’t have much patience for shopping, he asked a store to randomly pack clothes in their sizes. When Bobby tried them on, they fit perfectly, sparking his love for clothes. He also became passionate about sunglasses after seeing his father wear them in movies.
On the work front, Bobby Deol is currently involved in several projects across different languages. He has begun shooting for Anurag Kashyap‘s upcoming film alongside Sanya Malhotra. Additionally, as reported by Pinkvilla, he has joined the YRF Spy Universe. In this untitled female spy film, he will star alongside Alia Bhatt and Sharvari.
