Sreesanth slams Riyan Parag for ‘don’t want to watch T20 World Cup’ remark | Cricket News – Times of India

Former India pacer S Sreesanth schooled youngster Riyan Parag for his comment during an interview, where the Rajasthan Royals’ (RR) batsman had said that he doesn’t want to watch the T20 World Cup because he isn’t part of the team.
India is basking in the glory of Rohit Sharma & Co’s T20 World Cup triumph, beating South Africa in a thrilling final to clinch the trophy again after a gap of 17 years since the title win under MS Dhoni in the tournament’s inaugural edition in 2007.

WISH TEAM INDIA

Parag had a successful Indian Premier League season for RR with a tally of 531 runs and was hopeful of getting picked for the T20 World Cup, but wasn’t. It followed his interview going viral on social media, where he mentioned he isn’t going to watch the T20 World Cup.
“I don’t want to watch cricket anymore, because I want to play the World Cup,” Parag had said.

During the final of the T20 World Cup, Sreesanth, who was part of the Star Sports commentary team for the tournament, came down heavily on Parag, advising the 22-year-old youngster to first be “patriotic”.
“Some youngsters have also said that they will not watch the World Cup because they have not been selected,” said Sreesanth on air during the final in Barbados on June 29.
“I would say that first you should be patriotic, then yes, you should be a cricket lover. But those who have selected the team, they should be supported with all their heart, mind and passion,” the T20 and ODI World Cup winner said.
Parag has been selected in the Indian squad for the Zimababwe tour, where the team will be led by Shubman Gill.
India will play five T20Is on the short tour, beginning with the first match of the series on July 6.
