2016 Spinaway Stakes Preview, Entries & Odds
OffTrackBetting.com – The prestigious Grade 1 Spinaway Stakes will be contested Saturday, September 3 at Saratoga Race Course in Saratoga Springs, New York. Two year old fillies will be after the winner’s share of the $350,000 purse when they take to Saratoga’s dirt track and race seven furlongs.

2016 Spinaway Stakes Race Preview at Saratoga Race Course
Cherry Lodge 2-1 – highly regarded filly will race for just the second time for trainer Todd Pletcher off a good maiden score in a race she led all the way and that she posted an 89 Beyer Speed Figure – on this track August 7. She tries to remain unbeaten Saturday from post 5 with John Velazquez in the irons of this intriguing morning line favorite.
Sweet Loretta 5-2 – Todd Pletcher trained filly will look to remain undefeated Saturday – she has two starts and two wins so far. Last time out was a terrific stakes debut – a 4 1/4 length, last-to-first win in the Grade 3 Schuylerville Stakes on this very track July 22. She won her debut by an impressive seven lengths at Monmouth Park June 18. Sweet Loretta hasn’t been touched so far and hopes to maintain that trend from the rail Saturday with Javier Castellano in the saddle of the 122 pound highweight and second betting choice.

Runway Doll 3-1 – will race for the second time for trainer Steve Asmussen having recorded an impressive win in her only career start – by an astounding 13 1/2 lengths on this track July 31. Runway Doll was good in her only career start, has looked terrific in works leading up to this race and hopes to continue in her major step up in competition. Jose Ortiz has been tabbed to ride at 3-1 odds.
Pretty City Dancer 7-2 – Mark Casse trained filly has placed in all three career starts – two wins and a third place finish – all at Churchill Downs. Last time out was a nice win in her stakes debut – by 3 1/4 lengths in the minor Debutante Stakes July 2 which followed a maiden score May 27 and a third in her debut May 5. Irad Ortiz will be in charge of the fourth betting choice from gate 6.
Fun 12-1 – Ian Wilkes trained filly has a win and a second place finish in her two career starts. Last time out was a respectable second behind Sweet Loretta in the Grade 3 Schuylerville Stake son this track July 22 after a win at first asking – at Churchill Downs June 24. Fun has been competitive indeed and will try to flip the script on Sweet Loretta when she leaves from gate 4 with Junior Alvarado guiding her.
You Know Too 15-1 – has a win and a second place finish in her two career starts for trainer Michael Gorham – both at Delaware Park. Last time out was a decent stakes debut – a second in the minor White Clay Creek Stakes after a maiden score at first asking June 23. You Know Too has been decent so far and will chase her first stakes win from the outside post 7 with Luis Saez guiding her.
Special Risk 20-1 – has a second and a third place finish in her two career starts for trainer Rudy Rodriguez. She makes her stakes debut Saturday off a second in a MSW on this track July 22 and a third at Belmont Park in her debut May 18. Special Risk has been OK so far but looks for her first career win from gate 2 Saturday. Joel Rosario rides.
