Defending runner-up finish in this race – Chad Brown trained mare has placed in 17 of 20 career starts – 10 wins, four seconds and three third place finishes. She raced in graded stakes company for the first time in 17 months last April 17 and posted a very nice 3 3/4 length win in the G3 Distaff Handicap and has been good since. She arrives on the heels of an impressive three-race win streak – the G1 Humana Distaff last time out May 6 at Churchill Downs, the G1 Madison Stakes at Keeneland April 8 and the minor Garland of Roses Stakes at Aqueduct December 10. Before that was a decent third in the Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Sprint and another win in the G2 Gallant Bloom Handicap at Belmont Park October 1. Other results include the second in the 2016 G2 Honorable Miss Handicap, a win in the G3 Vagrancy Handicap at Belmont Park last May 21, a win in the G2 Matron Stakes at Belmont Park in October, 2014 and a win in the minor Ruthless Stakes in January, 2015. Michelle Nevin trained mare has six wins, six seconds and a third-place finish in 17 career starts. She enters this week in terrific form – a win last time out in the G3 Bed o’ Roses Handicap June 9 followed another win in the G3 Vagrancy Handicap May 5 – both at Belmont Park. Before that was a pair of runner-up finishes – the G2 Barbara Fritchie Stakes February 18 and in the minor Thirty Eight Go Go Stakes December 31 – both at Laurel Park. She also had an OK fifth in the 2016 Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Sprint, another quality runner-up finish in the G1 Ballerina Stakes at Saratoga August 27, a win in the 2016 the G3 Bed o’ Roses Handicap at Belmont Park June 15, a fourth in the G3 Distaff Handicap at Aqueduct April 17 and eight months away. Other results include a third in the 2015 G1 Test Stakes at Saratoga, consecutive runner-up finishes – the 2015 G1 Acorn Stakes at Belmont Park and the minor Parx Oaks and a win in the minor Caesar’s Wish Stakes in March, 2015. Finley’sluckycharm
Impressive W. Bret Calhoun trained filly has eight wins in 10 career starts with a second-place finish. She enters on a very nice three-race win streak – the G3 Chicago Handicap last time out June 24, the G3 Winning Colors Stakes May 27 and the minor Roxelana Overnight Stakes April 29 – all at Churchill Downs. Before that was a second in the G1 La Brea Stakes at Santa Anita and three more wins – the best of which came in the minor Dream Supreme Stakes at Churchill Downs in November. Finley’sluckycharm has been terrific in her career so far and tries for a fourth straight stakes win from the outside post 5 Wednesday. Brian Joseph Hernandez rides.
Clothes Fall Off
Has placed in 12 of 16 career starts for trainer Kiaran McLaughlin – five wins, six runner-ups and a third-place finish. Last time out was a disappointing ninth in the G1 Madison Stakes at Keeneland April 8 after a nice 4 1/4 length win in the minor Correction Stakes (for the second straight year) at Aqueduct March 18 and an OK third in the G2 Barbara Fritchie Stakes at Laurel Park – a race she placed second in 2015. She struggled before that – a fifth in the minor Interborough Stakes at Aqueduct January 22 followed nine months away and an eighth in the 2015 Madison Stakes. Clothes Fall Off has been decent so far in her career and had been trending upward before last time out. She shoots for a strong bounce back and for a first graded stakes score from gate 4 Wednesday with Joel Rosario guiding her.
Disco Chick
Defending third-place finisher in this race, Miguel Penaloza trained mare has 10 wins, 14 seconds and six third place finishes in 41 career starts. She arrives on the heels of her first win in over a year – the minor Regret Stakes at Monmouth Park July 16 which followed an eleventh in the minor Satin and Lace Stakes at Presque Isle Downs June 18 and a seventh in the minor Skipcat Stakes at Pimlico May 19. She placed in her previous seven starts (all minor stakes) including a third in the Foxy J. G. Stakes at Parx in April and four straight runner-up finishes. Disco Chick has been up-and down the last year and shoots for a first graded stakes score in just her second try – from the rail win Hector Caballero aboard.
