Adele gives unexpected nod to Sabrina Carpenter’s ‘Espresso’
Sabrina Carpenter is more than just proud to have Adele as her fan following the pop icon’s rare confession about Espresso.
During an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Thursday, August 22, the 25-year-old expressed excitement over the Hello singer’s remark while she celebrated the release of her new album Short n’ Sweet.
The host raved about Carpenter’s songs, noting, “Your songs have been everywhere the past few months, people can’t stop singing them.”
To which, the Feather singer instantly responded with a giggle, “But there was a video of Adele talking about how Espresso was the last thing she thought about before she went to bed.”
The 49-year-old then showed the clip featuring Adele’s Las Vegas residency as the songstress was spotted chatting with the crowd at the Colosseum at Caesar’s Palace on May 18.
Adele said at the time, before singing the lyrics to Carpenter’s chart-topping track, “As I got into bed last night — ’cause that’s a very late night for me, normally I’m in bed by 9 p.m. — I found myself singing, ‘I’m working late, ’cause I’m a singer.’”
“That Sabrina Carpenter song!… That song is my jam!”
The multi-hyphenate star claimed that the 36-year-old’s praise of one of Carpenter’s own songs, left an impression on her mind.
She said, “Like, I just love how I’m like, ‘Does she have social media?’ ” she added of the Hello singer, “Like, how does she know about the song or anything. And that was the most mind-blowing thing to me.”
