Beaumont Stakes 2014 Contenders & Odds
Las Vegas, NV – The Grade 2 Beaumont Stakes will be contested this Sunday, April 13 from Keeneland Race Course in Lexington, Kentucky. Three year old fillies will be featured as they go seven furlongs on Keeneland’s synthetic track for a purse of $200,000.
The Beaumont Stakes has attracted a field of eight three year olds fillies to go in race 8 on Keeneland’s Sunday card. Post time is 4:42 PM. Let’s take a look at the past performances of all eight entries for this Grade 2 stakes.
Sweet Whiskey – Todd Pletcher trained filly has placed in four of five career starts – two wins, a second and a third place finish. She is coming off an OK third in the listed Any Limit Stakes at Gulfstream March 9 after a career defining win – by 2 3/4 lengths in the Grade 3 Old Hat Stakes on that same track January 4. She also had a good second to Miss Behavior in the Grade 2 Matron Stakes at Belmont Park September 29 after a somewhat disappointing fourth in the Grade 1 Spinaway Stakes and a win in her debut at Saratoga in August. Sweet Whiskey has looked good in her career and is the likely favorite as she lines up from gate 4 with John Velazquez aboard.
Co Cola – the other Todd Pletcher pupil in the field stepped into graded stakes company for the first time January 4 and finished second behind Sweet Whiskey in the Grade 3 Old Hat Stakes and had a good second before that in her stakes debut – the minor Smart Halo Stakes at Laurel Park November 16 and another second after that – last time out in the listed Pica Slew Stakes at Calder February 22. Her only other career start was a MSW score at Belmont Park October 6. Joel Rosario gets the call from the outside post 8.
Katie’s Eyes – has just three career starts for trainer Grant Forster – the first two at Fair Grounds resulted in a win in her stakes debut – the minor South Mississippi Owners and Breeders Stakes February 14 after a third in her career debut – a MSW December 29. Last time out was another respectable third in the Grade 3 Bourbonette Oaks at Turfway Park March 22. She leaves from ate 7 with Corey Lanarie in the saddle.
Ready to Act – Chad Brown trained filly is coming off a good win in the listed Sweetest Chant Stakes at Gulfstream January 16 after a second in an Allowance Optional Claiming December 19 and an OK sixth in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf. She has two wins and a third place finish in five career starts and has been trending upward ahead of this race. Javier Castellano will ride from gate 3.

Richies Party Girl – trained by Wesley Ward she is coming off a nice win in the minor Juvenile Turf Sprint Stakes at Santa Anita November 2 after an ugly tenth in the Grade 3 Jessamine Stakes in October and a one mile Allowance score at Churchill Downs. She also had a third in a Grade 3 race in France August 17. Richies Party Girl has three wins in six career starts. Victor Espinoza has the mount from post 6.
Tea Time – Michael Matz trained filly has four career starts with two wins and a third place finish. She won the listed Sharp Cat Stakes last time out at Belmont Park way back on October 27 after a sixth in her only graded stakes action – the Grade 1 Frizette October 5. She hits the track for the first time in five months Sunday looking to pick up where she left off. Luis Saez has the mount from post 2.
Spring Again – races in graded stakes company for the first time Sunday off a pair of fifths in her last two starts – an Allowance Optional Claiming last time out at Gulfstream February 8 and the listed Ginger Brew Stakes also at Gulfstream January 5. She had two wins and two seconds in her first four starts – the best of which was a second in the minor Wait a While Stakes November 30. She starts from the rail with Alex Solis aboard.
Conspired – has three career starts – all MSW races at Turfway Park. She finally broke maiden last time out March 22 after a second and a fourth respectively in her other two starts. Julien Leparoux rides from post 6.
