Bhavana Pandey criticizes daughter Ananya Panday’s acting debut in Student of the Year 2: ‘She wasn’t fully aware of what to do’ | Hindi Movie News – Times of India
Bhavana Pandey, who was recently seen in Fabulous Lives vs Bollywood Wives, opened up about her daughter Ananya Panday‘s Bollywood debut in Karan Johar‘s Student of the Year 2 and offering a critique opinion about her performance in the film. She also talked about Ananya’s acting journey and praised her growth in her recent projects like Kho Gaye Hum Kahan and Call Me Bae.
When asked about a film where Ananya lived up to expectations, Bhavana told Bollywood Bubble, “I think she did everything she could from her side. She gave her best effort. Of course, there are so many factors that matter in a film. Maybe in Student of the Year 2… she was too raw. So I wouldn’t say she didn’t try her best, but perhaps she wasn’t fully aware of what to do.”
Shifting to Ananya’s more recent work, Bhavana didn’t hold back her admiration. She shared, “I think she was amazing in the films Kho Gaye Hum Kahan and Call Me Bae. I absolutely loved her.”

Highlighting her daughter’s comedic timing, Bhavana added, “I think she was very funny. I don’t want to sound like an obsessed fan, but I keep rewatching that series. Whenever I have nothing else to watch, I put it on because it’s just so funny. I really enjoyed her character in Call Me Bae.”
On the work front, Ananya was recently seen in CTRL, where she played Nella Awasthi, an influencer who, after going through a breakup, turns to Artificial Intelligence (AI) to eliminate her ex-boyfriend Joe from her life. She will next be seen sharing the screen with Akshay Kumar in Karan Johar’s upcoming untitled film, inspired by the life of C. Sankaran Nair. This project, directed by Karan Singh Tyagi, will mark Ananya’s first collaboration with both Akshay and R. Madhavan. The film is slated to hit theatres on March 14, 2025.
