Boxer Nishant Dev bows out of Paris Olympics after quarterfinal loss | Paris Olympics 2024 News – Times of India



NEW DELHI: Nishant Dev, a first-time Olympian representing India in the men’s 71kg boxing category, suffered a devastating loss in the quarterfinal round on Saturday at the North Paris Arena.
The 23-year-old, who had previously earned a bronze medal at the world championships, faced off against Mexico’s Marco Verde Alvarez, the second seed at the Games.
Despite Nishant’s best efforts, the bout ended with a split decision of 1-4 in favor of his Mexican rival. The defeat marked the end of Nishant’s Olympic journey, making him the fifth Indian boxer to be eliminated from the Paris Games.
