Davona Dale Stakes 2014 Contenders & Odds
Las Vegas, NV – Gulfstream Park in Hallandale Beach, Florida will play host to the Grade 2 Davona Dale Stakes on Saturday, February 22. Three year old fillies will be featured as they go 1 1/16 miles on Gulfstream’s dirt track in search of the winner’s share of the $200,000 purse.

Onlyforyou – unbeaten Todd Pletcher trained filly raced in stakes company for the first time and won the Grade 2 Forward Gal Stakes by 2 3/4 lengths as 1-5 favorite just ahead of Aurelia’s Belle last time out on this track January 25 after a $75K Allowance Optional Claiming score here December 15 and a MSW score by 3 1/2 lengths in her career bow in October at Aqueduct. Javier Castellano will be in the saddle trying to maintain his Gulfstream dominance on one of the two serious threats in the Davona Dale.
Stopchargingmaria – Todd Pletcher trained filly is coming off a terrific win in the Grade 2 Demoiselle Stakes at Aqueduct November 30 after an equally impressive win by 10 3/4 lengths in the Grade 3 Tempted Stakes November 3, a third in the Grade 1 Frizette and a second in the Grade 1 Spinaway and a MSW score in her debut. She has been uber-competitive in all five career starts, is the highweight in the field carrying 120 pounds and will have John Velazquez aboard from the far outside post.
Penwith – Kiaran McLaughlin trained filly finished third in her only graded stakes action – behind Stopchargingmaria after setting the pace in the Grade 2 Demoiselle at Aqueduct November 30. Sandwiched around that result is an Allowance Optional Claiming score on this track January 2 and a MSW score over Got Lucky in October at Belmont Park.
Aurelia’s Belle – will race for just the fourth time for trainer Wayne Catalano. Last time out was a good second behind Onlyforyou in the Grade 2 Forward Gal Stakes on this track January 25 after a decent third in the Grade 3 Old Hat Stakes here (7 1/2 lengths back) January 4. She won her debut in October – a MSW at Keeneland.

Abou – Joan Scott trained filly has just one career starts and it was a good one – a MSW score as favorite at Tampa Bay Downs January 22. She steps up Saturday looking to measure exactly where she in her development.
House Rules – has four career starts for trainer Allen Jerkins and finally broke maiden last time out by 5 3/4 lengths after a second December 19, a seventh and a sixth in his first two career starts.
Holiday Magic – has seven career starts – the highlight being a win in the minor Brave Raj Stakes at Calder in September – one of two career wins that she has. Last time out was a third in the OBS Championship Stakes at Ocala Training Center January 21 after an eighth in the Juvenile Filly Sprint on this track November 9.
Luna Santa – has six career starts with two wins and a third place finish – Saturday marks her graded stakes debut. Last time out was a fifth in the OBS Sprint Stakes at Ocala Training Center January 21 after a third in the Chispiski Stakes at Calder January 4 and an Allowance score also at Calder November 10. She won her only start on this track back in September but has been up and down since.
