Dharmit Shah On Replacing Kush Shah As Goli In TMKOC: ‘There Will Be Comparisons’ – News18

Dharmit Shah shared that he is not going to copy Kush Shah but bring his own touch to the character of Goli.
Renowned Indian sitcom Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah has been having a successful run for about 16 years. Over the years, several new characters have been introduced and many actors have been replaced. However, this has not affected its loyal fanbase, who continue to shower love on the show. Recently, Kush Shah, who played the iconic character of Goli, bid farewell, and Dharmit Shah has been cast for the role. In his latest interview, the actor shared how he has been dealing with comparisons with Kush Shah as well as trying to bring out the best in his character.
Speaking to ETimes about the inevitable comparison between him and Kush Shah as he steps into his shoes, Dharmit stated, “There will be comparisons, and I’m ready for it. We both are different personalities and our reactions can’t be the same. I will definitely try to match up to what the previous Goli did.” The actor added that he intends to understand the character and his emotions and deliver his performance accordingly. Dharmit mentioned, “I’m not going to copy the previous Goli instead will bring my own flavour.”
Dharmit shared that he is under no pressure about the role, but “there is a sense of responsibility” that he has to give his best. Moreover, sharing the similarities with his character and real life, Dharmit expressed how both are big foodies. On the other hand while Goli has a lot of fun with his Tapu Sena, in real life, Dharmit is a little different.
Dharmit is also ready to gel well with his co-stars and understands that there might be some challenges since he is new. He said, “I will have to mix-up well with my co-stars so that the chemistry and bonding reflects onscreen.”
Dharmit’s casting in Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah was indeed a pleasant surprise for his parents. The actor stated, “ I did not inform my parents but I was on sets when I got selected. I went home and informed them about the news. They were over the moon, they were very happy.”
Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah is one of the longest-running sitcoms in India. The series takes place at the Gokuldham Co-operative Housing Society and focusses on its members, who come from diverse backgrounds. It stars Dilip Joshi, Sunayana Fozdar, Balwinder Singh Suri, Monaz Mevawalla and others.
