Donald Trump to stand behind bulletproof glass at outdoor rallies | The Express Tribune
Donald Trump will be protected by ballistic glass during outdoor campaign events, according to sources familiar with the planning and a campaign official.
The Secret Service is implementing this measure to ensure the former president’s safety, particularly in light of a recent failed assassination attempt.
While bulletproof glass is usually reserved for sitting presidents and vice presidents and transported via military aircraft, Trump, as a former president and current candidate, does not have access to such resources. The ballistic glass will be strategically positioned around the country and transported by agents responsible for its security.
Not all outdoor events will require the use of ballistic glass, but it will be deployed in situations where there are specific security concerns. This enhanced protection follows a shooting at an outdoor rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, on 13 July, where Trump and two others were injured, and one person was killed.
In addition to the ballistic glass, the Secret Service is increasing staffing, technology, and threat analysis to further safeguard Trump during his rallies.
