AAP leader Manish Sisodia cleared his stance stating that he would not occupy the Deputy CM’s chair until the ‘public approves his honesty.’
After Arvind Kejriwal announced that he would resign from the post of the Chief Minister of Delhi within the next two days, his closest aide and AAP leader Manish Sisodia also cleared that he would not re-join the Deputy CM’s post until the public approves his honesty.
The move comes after Kejriwal, in his first speech after securing bail from the Supreme Court in the alleged liquor policy scam, said until he is acquitted by the court, he will not sit on the Chief Minister’s chair.
Sisodia walked out of Tihar jail after 17 months of imprisonment in the alleged Delhi liquor policy scam on August 9. He resigned from the Deputy CM’s post and cabinet ministry (education) days after the probe agency arrested him in February 2023. Currently, he only serves as MLA in active politics.
‘I Worked Honestly, But Attempts Were Made To…’
After Kejriwal’s announcement to step down, Sisodia took to X, and wrote, “I came into politics to work honestly for education. I worked honestly as Delhi’s education minister for 10 years. I built schools and new universities.”
“I worked honestly but attempts were made to prove me dishonest by making false allegations against me under petty politics – I was kept in jail for 17 months on false charges,” the AAP leader added.

He further said that after two years of legal process, the country’s top court allowed him to continue his work. “But I will not sit on the chair of Deputy Chief Minister-Education Minister right now. I have also decided that I will go to the public court along with Arvind Kejriwal and ask whether they consider me honest or not,” Sisodia said.
Given that the AAP leader himself resigned from the constitutional posts he held in the Delhi cabinet, now he cannot hold any ministerial berth till the time he is sworn in again. The Assembly elections of Delhi for all 70 constituencies will be held on or before February 2025. The official announcement is yet to be made by the Election Commission of India.
