Nimrit Kaur Ahluwalia started her acting career by playing the lead role in TV serial Choti Sarrdaarni.

Nimrit Kaur Ahluwalia, best known for her role in drama series Choti Sarrdaarni, is ready to make her Bollywood debut. Ahluwalia will appear on the big screen in a yet-to-be-named drama thriller. It is being produced by JAR Pictures, a production company by Ajay G. Rai and Alan McAlex. JAR Pictures is known for making independent films such as Gangs of Wasseypur, Nil Battey Sannata, Killa, Liar’s Dice, and more. The film is currently in the pre-production stage. Its shooting will start in September after Ahluwalia wraps up the shoot for the reality show Khatron Ke Khiladi.

In conversation with Times Now, the former Femina Miss Manipur said, “I am thrilled to be collaborating with Jar Pictures for my big screen debut in this thrilling drama. After my journey on Bigg Boss Season 16, I am excited to explore new avenues in my acting career, and this project presents the perfect opportunity.” Ahluwalia said that she had been waiting for her Bollywood debut for the last six years.

Ahluwalia was previously set to make her Bollywood debut in the much-hyped LSD 2. However, she backed out of the project after returning from Big Boss 16. Breaking the silence over why she did not take part in Dibakar Banerjee’s converted film, Ahluwalia said that she was not in the right headspace at the time and had to take the tough call of exiting the project despite knowing that as an “outsider” she might not get many opportunities.

The 29-year-old told Bollywood Hungama, “It took a lot of courage to identify that I wanted to be better equipped when I entered a film set. It wasn’t an easy decision to make as it was the moment everyone was waiting for. But I wouldn’t have been able to be the best version of me in it, in terms of how I look as well as where my head space was at.” She added that her exit from LSD 2 happened cordially and filmmakers respected her decision to quit.

Ahluwalia has since worked on her mental and physical health and is ready to take on new challenges. She said, “I wanted to feel great and be back to who I really am, and it took a lot of time to revamp myself physically as well as mentally. But today, I feel so proud of myself for the work I have put in.”
