Kamal Haasan’s Indian 2 earns nearly Rs 4 crore in Hindi over the weekend | Hindi Movie News – Times of India

Kamal Haasan’s fortunes are swinging between two extreme ends, his first release of the year Nag Ashwin’s Kalki 2898 AD has crossed Rs 250 crore mark in Hindi, but his second release Indian 2 seems to be struggling. Indian 2 , directed by Shankar, is a sequel to their 1996 blockbuster film Hindustani which sees Kamal Haasan stepping back into the shoes of freedom fighter Senapathy.

Marred by negative reviews and word of mouth publicity, the Hindi audience has preferred to say away from the film, and spent their money on either Kalki or Akshay Kumar’s Sarfira. Also the makers of Indian 2 have trimmed the film by over 20 minutes, keeping the audience reaction in mind, but it hardly seems to have turned the fortunes of the film, as the collections are dropping with each passing day.
The film in Hindi on its first day, earned Rs 1.2 crore, and on second day also, the collection remained stagnant at Rs 1.3 crore, and on Sunday the number was Rs 1.4 crore as per early estimates by Sacnilk, thus taking the Hindi collection to Rs 3.9 crore . In fact, the film also faced a drop in Tamil language collection, where the numbers dropped from Rs 16.5 crore on day 1 to Rs 13 crore on day 2, and to Rs 11.5 crore on Sunday . The total collection of all languages stands at Rs 59.15 crore.
Though in North America the film has crossed US $ 2 million mark including its premiere shows for the weekend making it to Top 10 biggest box office this weekend. It is the 9th Indian film to do so in 2024.
The film also features Siddharth, Rakul Preet Singh, Kajal Agarwal and SJ Suryah.
