Knickerbocker Stakes at Belmont Park
Las Vegas, NV – The 52nd running of the Grade 3 Knickerbocker Stakes goes down at Belmont Park this Saturday, October 13. Horses three years old and upward will race 1 1/8 miles on Belmont’s turf track in search of their share of the $150,000 purse.
The Knickerbocker has attracted a field of eight for race 9 on Belmont Park’s Saturday card. Post time is 5:06 PM. Here is a brief look into the past performances of all eight entries ahead of this Grade 3 race.
Boisterous – is the defending champion in this race and had been very good as of late with three wins in five starts between October and May – wins at the Grade 3 Fort Macy Stakes, at the Grade 2 Red Smith Handicap in November and the Knickerbocker Stakes here last October. Last time out was his worst result in a while however – a ninth in the Grade 1 Arlington Millions August 18 to follow a second in the Grade 3 Arlington Handicap and a third in the Grade 1 Manhattan Handicap. He has won four times on Belmont turf and will be looking to get back to winning form on Saturday.
Tune Me In – came out of nowhere and won the Grade 3 Oceanport on July 29 and followed that win another impressive score last time out at Monmouth in the Grade 3 Cliff Hanger. Before those wins he had placed in just one of his previous five starts – that being a third at the John McSorely Stakes on June 10. He enters in the best form of his career and should be very competitive in the Knickerbocker.
Bombaguia – made his stakes debut with a very good third last time out in the Grade 2 Bowling Green after having placed in four of seven Allowance races this year. He has three wins in 16 career starts and will be looking to build on that impressive performance last time out for trainer John Kimmel.
Stormy Lord – is coming off an impressive win last time out in the PTHA President’s Cup Stakes at Parx September 15 to follow a close second in the Grade 2 Sky Classic Stakes August 19. Stormy Lord recorded just one second place finish in his other four starts this year but enters this week racing as well as he has at any point in his career.

Sky Blazer – Barclay Tagg gelding enters off an OK third last time out in the Grade 2 Bernard Baruch at Saratoga September 1 after a sixth in the Grade 1 Arlington Millions. He also has a pair of Allowance Optional Claiming scores to his credit this year proving that he does belong in this Grade 3 race.
Freud’s Honor – has struggled this year for trainer Gregory Sacco – five starts and just one second place finish at an Allowance Optional Claiming July 1 at Monmouth. Since then he has a respectable fourth in the Grade 1 United Nations Stakes followed by a fourth in the East Hanover Stakes July 28 and a disappointing tenth last time out at the PTHA President’s Cup Stakes at Parx September 15..
See Tobe – has eight starts this year with three wins, three seconds and a third place finish. He stepped up in competition two back and finished second in the East Hanover Stakes and followed that up with a win last time out in the Japan Racing Association Stakes at Laurel Park September 8. He may not be a big name but See Tobe enters off some good results.
Barocci – started his career overseas and has appeared in four Allowance races in North America with a win and a second on this track being his best results.
