Kylian Mbappe’s Monster Salary at Real Madrid Broken Down; Decimates Earnings of IPL Superstars Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma – News18
Kylian Mbappe’s annual salary trumps over the likes of both Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma put together (AFP)
Mbappe will reportedly earn 13.4 crores per month or rougly 3 crore rupees per week, all boiling down to a little over 2916 rupees per minute at the club.
The whirlwind news of Mbappe’s decision to join Los Blancos had initially come out mere days after Real Madrid clinched their historic 15th Champions League title, with a 2-0 win over Borussia Dortmund.
The Los Blancos were bidding farewell to a handful of legendary servicemen of the club including the likes of Toni Kroos, Luka Modric and Nacho Fernandez.
But now, the much-awaited and anticipated signing of the superstar striker had finally percolated into reality.
The talisman Frenchman has been reported to net around 15 million euros per year of his contract with Real Madrid, an estimate of around 160.8 crore rupees per year, as per ESPN.
If we do the math, that roughly means that Mbappe will earn 13.4 crores per month or rougly 3 crore rupees per week, or 42 lakhs per day, all boiling down to a little over 2916 rupees per minute at the club.
His salary, which is estimated to be much lesser than what the Frenchman could have earned at his former club PSG had he stayed, makes the salaries of cricketing superstars in our country look paltry.
Even the biggest of names in the IPL, such as Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, who both earn a handsome 7+ crore rupees, by virtue of their BCCI contracts in itself.
Even taking into account the IPL season earnings, Virat Kohli was retained by Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) for a massive 17 crore rupees per season in several recent IPL editions, while former MI skipper Rohit Sharma earned an estimated 16 crores per season.
Both of these superstars’ entire annual earnings put together barely holds a candle to that of Mbappe, who sets his eyes on attaining Champions League glory with Real Madrid.
The former PSG forward was handed the number 9 jersey, donned previously by Ballon D’or winner and French striker Karim Benzema.
The 25-year-old Frenchman excels on the left side of the attack, where 23-year-old Vinícius has been playing regularly. The other flank is often occupied by 23-year-old Rodrygo, who recently talked about the possibility of leaving Madrid if he didn’t feel useful for the club.
But, at the end of the day, it is a problem that nay club would give their lucky stars, literally and metaphorically, to face, and one that the seasoned Ancelotti will relish to tackle as Madrid continue to stack more ‘Galacticos’ onto their squad without fail.
