The stars of Mumbai cricket who were a part of the triumphant Indian squad were invited to the Vidhan Bhavan where the Maharashtra government felicitated them.

A day after the victory parade in Mumbai, Indian captain Rohit Sharma, all-rounder Shiva Dube, batters Yashasvi Jaiswal and Suryakumar Yadav were felicitated by Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde. Team India defeated South Africa by 7 runs in a tense ICC T20 World Cup 2024 final in Barbados to be crowned as the World Champions. The team landed in New Delhi on Thursday morning and headed to Mumbai after meeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the national capital.

The stars of Mumbai cricket who were a part of the triumphant Indian squad were invited to the Vidhan Bhavan where the Maharashtra government felicitated them. Before heading into the assembly, CM Shinde met and greeted the World Cup winners at his residence in Mumbai.

The Chief Minister facilitated victorious members of the Indian team with shawls and idols of Lord Ganesha, congratulating the Indian players for the victory.

The endless love showered by the fans during their victory parade was a testament to what the T20 World Cup victory meant for his team and the entire country, an overwhelmed India skipper Rohit Sharma said after a once-in-a-lifetime reception here.

“You can make out from the excitement, it shows how much it means not just to us but to the entire nation, it means a lot, so I am very happy that we could achieve something like this for them as well,” Rohit told BCCI.TV while soaking in the electric atmosphere among chants of ‘Rohit-Rohit’.

This is his second T20 World Cup win but certainly more special than ever.

“2007 was different as we started in the afternoon. I cannot forget 2007 as it was my first World Cup, this is a little more special as I was leading the team and it is a proud moment for me. This will be mad,” the ecstatic skipper said.
