PM directs to finalize E-Vehicles policy by November – SUCH TV
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif chaired a high-level meeting on the promotion of electric vehicles (EVs) in Pakistan, highlighting the government’s commitment to prioritizing sustainable transportation.
During the meeting, the PM said the government was taking priority measures for the promotion of electric vehicles in the country. He directed the relevant authorities to prepare a comprehensive financial model for electric vehicles, calling for consultations with the Finance Ministry and the State Bank of Pakistan to ensure the plan’s viability.
He set a November deadline for the completion of the national electric vehicle policy, emphasizing the need to improve the regulation of licenses regarding the production of e-vehicles in the country.
Shehbaz stressed the importance of involving all provinces and key stakeholders in the consultation process to ensure a balanced and effective policy framework. He also instructed the Capital Development Authority (CDA) to devise a comprehensive plan for introducing electric public transport in Islamabad.
A key initiative discussed during the meeting was the distribution of electric motorcycles to top-performing students in government schools. Additionally, Shehbaz announced that all federal government institutions will exclusively purchase electric motorbikes in the future.
