POLO:Prince Harry, Meghan face animal abuse allegations

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s new Netflix trailer dropped on Thursday

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s upcoming Netflix docuseries, POLO, has sparked a wave of backlash following its trailer release on Thursday.

The five-episode series, which follows athletes competing in the controversial sport of polo across the U.S., has drawn criticism from animal rights activists, particularly concerns about the treatment of horses used in the matches.

The sport of polo, often criticised by organszations like PETA for alleged animal cruelty, has become the focus of heated reactions from fans.

One viewer expressed their outrage: “Watching a series that glorifies animal abuse is utterly despicable. Shame on you Netflix.” Another added, “This is a vile sport in terms of how they treat those animals.”

A third viewer remarked, “This is a celebration of animal cruelty,” while one more fan wrote, “I shudder to think of the animal rights abuses committed for this sport.”

Despite the criticism, some fans are eager to watch the documentary. One supporter commented, “Polo is such a great sport,” while another expressed, “I can’t wait to watch it.” A third simply said, “I want to watch. I’m curious.”

The docuseries, which offers a behind-the-scenes glimpse into the world of polo—a sport close to Prince Harry’s heart—will be available for streaming on Netflix starting December 10.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex signed a lucrative deal with the platform in 2020 after stepping down as working royals, with their first series, Harry & Meghan, breaking several Netflix records.
