Rahul Dravid’s Special Message For Gautam Gambhir Ahead Of His 1st Match As India’s Head Coach Goes Viral – News18

In Gautam Gambhir’s first match as the head coach of the Indian men’s cricket team, Men in Blue will face Sri Lanka at the Pallekele International Stadium on Saturday.
Gautam Gambhir was appointed as India’s head coach on July 9, after Rahul Dravid’s stint came to an end in June 2024. The former Indian captain didn’t apply for the second term and finished his coaching career with a T20 World Cup title. Gambhir was appointed as his successor for three and a half years, and India will play the first match under his guidance against Sri Lanka on Saturday (July 27).
Ahead of Gambhir’s first match as India’s head coach, Dravid shared a special message for him and welcomed him to the most exciting job. In a video shared by BCCI on X (formerly Twitter), Dravid said, “Hello, Gautam, and welcome to the most exciting job in our world—as coach of the Indian cricket team. As you take over the role of India coach, I hope you have the availability of fully-fit players in every squad. Good luck with that.”
Gambhir thanked Dravid for his kind words and said the message from Dravid meant so much to him.
“The message from Rahul Dravid means so much to me. Rahul Bhai is the person I’ve always looked up to when I was playing. I do not get too emotional normally, but the message from him made me a lot emotional. He was the most selfless cricketer.”.
