Ravindra Jadeja Released, Mohammed Siraj And Umran Malik Ruled Out of Duleep Trophy Due to Illness – News18
As many as three India cricketers have been ruled out from the upcoming first round of Duleep Trophy 2024 including Ravindra Jadeja, Mohammed Siraj and Umran Malik. While no reason has been cited behind releasing Jadeja, BCCI says both Siraj and Umran are ill and will not recover in time to make the first round of the red-ball competition starting in the first week of September.
“Both Siraj and Malik are suffering from an illness and are not expected to be fit in time for their Duleep Trophy fixtures,” read a statement from BCCI.

Siraj was set to represent Team B under the captaincy of Abhimanyu Easwaran and will be replaced by fellow India right-arm quick Navdeep Saini in the squad.
Meanwhile there were reports that Umran has recovered from dengue but it seems he’s still not fit enough to make his competitive return. He was to play for Team C under Ruturaj Gaikwad and will be replaced by by Madhya Pradesh pacer Gaurav Yadav.
No replacement has been announced for Jadeja. The tournament is set to begin from September 5, in Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh and M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru.
