Ryanair warns of ‘delays and cancellations’ affecting holidaymakers this week
Holidaymakers going to and from Brussels have been told their flights may be disrupted.
This is due to strikes on the ground outside of Ryanair’s control. This comes amid ongoing travel warnings in Europe.
The budget airline warned: “[There are] cancellations to and from Brussels South Charleroi (Thursday 12 September) due to local ground handling strike.
“Affected passengers travelling to/from Brussels South Charleroi on Thursday 12 September have been notified via email, push and SMS about the cancellations of their flight due to local ground handling strike.

“We regret any inconvenience caused to passengers by this local ground handling strike, which is outside of Ryanair’s control.”
When travelling, holidaymakers want to get to their destination without delays, but unfortunately, this is not always possible.
Ryanair has ongoing warnings as staff shortages have affected flights from all airlines throughout the summer.
It warned this is still impacting flights today. The airline explained: “Delays across the network today (Thursday 12 September) due to repeated ATC staff shortages across Europe.
“Ryanair, Europe’s No.1 airline, on Thursday 12 September apologised to its passengers for the excessive flight delays caused by European ATC staff shortages today Thursday 12 September which is affecting all European airlines.
“ATC services, which have had the benefit of no French ATC strike disruption this summer, continue to underperform (despite flight volumes being five per cent behind 2019 levels) with repeated ‘staff shortages’.
“On Thursday 12 September, 10 per cent of Ryanair’s first wave departures (45 of 552 aircraft) were delayed due to ATC “staff shortages”. These repeated flight delays due to ATC mismanagement are unacceptable.
“We apologise to our passengers for these repeated ATC flight delays which are deeply regrettable but beyond Ryanair’s control.

This comes as Jet2 told passengers to be prepared if travelling from three UK airports.
Passengers flying from Jersey, Newcastle and East Midlands airports were warned of potential disruptions this week and in the coming months.
In Jersey, an air festival is expected to cause congestion. Newcastle Airport faces roadworks on a nearby major route. East Midlands Airport will be affected by lane closures on the M1 motorway.
