Saratoga Special Stakes 2014 Contenders & Odds
Las Vegas, NV – The Grade 2 Saratoga Special Stakes goes down at Saratoga Race Course in Saratoga Springs, New York this Sunday, August 10. A purse of $200,000 will be on the line for a group of two year olds willing to go 6 1/2 furlongs on Saratoga’s main track.

I Spent It – highly touted Anthony Dutrow trained colt will hit the track for just the second time – the first being a nice maiden score at Belmont Park July 2. Javier Castellano gets the call aboard the narrow 7-2 morning line favorite from the rail Sunday.
Nonna’s Boy – Todd Pletcher trained colt is coming off a fourth as favorite in the Grade 3 Sanford Stakes on this track July 19 after breaking maiden at first asking by 5 1/2 lengths at Belmont Park June 13. Legendary jockey John Velazquez will be aboard the 4-1 choice from post 6.
Cinco Charlie – the most experience of all the entries has three starts – two wins and a third place finish for trainer Steve Asmussen. Last time out was a third in the Grade 3 Sanford Stakes after a terrific win in the Grade 3 Bashford Manor Stakes at Churchill Downs June 28 and a maiden score in his debut. Shaun Bridgmohan has been tabbed to ride the impressive colt from gate 7 at 9-2 odds.
Mr. Z – D Wayne Lukas pupil has two career starts and is coming off a good second by a neck to Big Trouble in his graded stakes debut – the Grade 3 Sanford Stakes on this track July 19. This after a maiden score at first asking June 28. Corey Lanerie has been tabbed to ride one of the few entries with stakes experience from gate 3 at 5-1 odds.

Stanford – Todd Pletcher trained colt will race for the second time – off a maiden score in his only start – at Monmouth Park June 29. He will have Joe Bravo guiding him from gate 8 Sunday as a 12-1 shot Sunday.
W V Jetsetter – George Weaver trainee rides a two race win streak into this weekend – the minor TTA Sales Futurity last time out July 12 at Lone Star followed a maiden score June 27 and a third in a MSW in May. He makes his first start away from Lone Star Sunday with Joel Rosario aboard.
Lord Tyrion – has two career starts for trainer Ian Wilkes and enters after breaking maiden in his second start – at Indiana Grand Race Course July 23 after a third in his debut in a similar race at Churchill Downs. Lord Tyrion makes his stakes debut Sunday with Julien Leparoux aboard from post 2.
Tizcano – Peter Miller trained colt will race for the second time off a maiden score at Gulfstream June 22. Cornelio Velazquez will be aboard from post 4 Sunday.
Rod McLeod – will race for the second time for trainer Dale Romans off a maiden score in his only career start. He looks for his first stakes score Sunday with Robby Albarado guiding him from post 5.
Cleveland Sound – H. Graham Motion sends out Cleveland Sound for his second career start – the first being a maiden score at Delaware Park July 19. He will depart from gate 9 with Irad Ortiz in the irons.
Majestic Affair – Chad Brown trained colt will make his second career starts Sunday off a MSW score at first asking at Canterbury Park July 6. Jose Lezcano gets the call from post 10.
