TMKOC actor Gurucharan Singh returned home and explained that he had been on a spiritual journey
Gurucharan Singh, known for his role in Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, left fans worried when he went missing in April 2024. After a 26-day absence, the actor returned home and explained that he had been on a spiritual journey. In a recent interview, Gurucharan addressed concerns about leaving his elderly parents behind. The actor mentioned he wasn’t worried because he knew his sister would take care of them.
During a chat with Pinkvilla, when asked if he was worried about leaving his elderly parents, Gurucharan shared, “Mummy Daddy ka aisa tha ki meri ek behen hai aur do bade bhai hai, woh khayaal rakheinge. Meri behen aai thi Mumbai se Delhi. Das din woh mummy ke saath thi. (I have one sister and two brothers. I knew they’d take care of them. My sister came from Mumbai to Delhi and stayed for 10 days with my mother.)”
The TMKOC actor continued, “Usko out of India jaana tha, kyunki mere jijaji bahar rehte hai. Unko bahar jaana tha toh, Delhi aai thi phir uss hisaab se unhone ticket bhi apni postpone kii thi. Kyuki mujhe pata hai, kaisa bhi kuch bhi ho jaye, mai hu or meri behen hai, uski bahot zyada hai mom dad se, baaki theek hai. (She had to travel out of India because my brother-in-law lives abroad. She came to Delhi and postponed her tickets accordingly. I knew that no matter what happened, my sister would be there for our parents, so I wasn’t too worried about it.)”
Gurucharan Singh finally returned home after 26 days, bringing relief to his family and joy to his fans. When asked about his decision to come back, he explained that he sought guidance from supernatural powers. He spent several nights in Gurudwaras, and during his time at the Golden Temple in Amritsar, he experienced what he felt was divine intervention, which led him to decide to return home.
Gurucharan said, “In order to get enough sleep while travelling, I used to take general compartments with a general ticket. Having nowhere to spend the night, I sometimes resorted to sleeping on railway platform or at bus stops. However, a good night’s rest was elusive due to various factors. Even the ticket collectors never identified me (sic).”
Gurucharan Singh played the role of Roshan Singh Sodhi in TMKOC. He left the show in 2013 but returned the following year due to public demand. After he left the show in 2020, Balwinder Singh Suri replaced him and Gurucharan has not appeared on television since.
