Thomas Tuchel Agrees to Become England’s New Manager: Report – News18

Tuchel has signed the contract in the last hour and the official announcement is expected to be made tomorrow evening roughly at 4:30 PM (IST) by the English Football Association.

England’s hunt for a full-time manager could end with the former Bayern Munich, Chelsea and PSG coach, Thomas Tuchel having reportedly agreed to become Gareth Southgate’s successor.

According to a report by Sky Sports, Tuchel has signed the contract in the last hour and the official announcement is expected to be made tomorrow evening roughly at 4:30 PM (IST) by the English Football Association.

“We are expecting a news conference at Wembley at 1.30 pm (BST) on Wednesday which chief executive Mark Bullingham will attend, answer some questions and explain his decision,” the report claims.

“It’s not yet been confirmed if Tuchel will be at that news conference but I would fully expect him to be,” the report adds.

The 51-year-old manager will become the third non-English man to coach the Three Lions after Fabio Capello and the late Sven-Goran Erikkson. Tuchel has has had a history of winning trophies with practically every club he has been with and the English FA would expect the same with the national team.

The England job would be Tuchel’s first dive into international management but it is reported that he would take a massive pay-cut in comparison to what he used to earn at Munich. It is expected that he would earn about 5 million GBP annually, which is almost half of what he used to earn with the German giants.

Tuchel has had the experience of working in the Premier League during his stint with Chelsea where he led them to the UEFA Champions League in the 2021/22 season. He was sacked him his role with the Blues due to the change in ownership with Todd Boehly and co coming into the picture.

The former Bayern boss, is known to be someone that is tactically sound and has the ability to make the most of his squad. With England being one of the biggest talent-factories in world football, Tuchel will have the added luxury to choose from a plethora of talent that comes from the English top-flight.
