Virat Kohli tops the charts for the highest tax-paying sportsperson while the likes of MS Dhoni and Sachin Tendulkar are far behind.

Cricketers who represent India are certainly amongst the highest-paid people in the country and their earnings are one that the audience is interested to know.

Not just representing India but playing in the Indian Premier League (IPL) has led to even more money for the players. Endorsement deals are also another avenue through which the cricketers make the big bucks.

According to a report by Fortune India, the batting great, Virat Kohli leads the list as the cricketer and sportsperson who has paid the most tax for the 2023-24 financial year. Interestingly he pays as much tax as both Sachin Tendulkar and MS Dhoni combined.

In the report, Virat Kohli tops the charts among sportspersons with a whopping 66 crores being paid as tax. Well behind the Indian batting great is none other than the legendary captain MS Dhoni who is at 38 crores. The cricketing icon, Sachin Tendulkar is third on the list with 28 crores while his former teammate, Sourav Ganguly is at 23 crores.

Two names that are part of the current Indian cricket set-up are Hardik Pandya (12 crores) and Rishabh Pant (10 crores). Both men had a key role along with Kohli in helping India claim their second T20 World Cup title as they beat South Africa in the final that took place in Barbados, earlier in June 2024.

Cricket continues to be one of the most sought-after professions. Earlier this year, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the Test Cricket Incentive Scheme which would reward cricketers to earn even more should they represent the country in the longest format.

With the IPL continuing to soar towards greater heights, along with Team India being one of the most, if not the most popular sides within world cricket, surely these numbers could go even higher as time goes by.
