WATCH: Bangladesh team welcomed home after historic series win over Pakistan | The Express Tribune
The Bangladesh cricket team has returned home after a sweeping 2-0 victory over Pakistan in the recently concluded Test series at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.
Upon arrival at Dhaka Airport, the players were warmly received by officials from the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) with flowers and sweets, celebrating their achievement.
The team, traveling in two groups via Dubai and Doha from Karachi, garnered immense support from fans and officials.
Former captain Shakib Al Hasan, however, did not return with the squad, as he headed to the UK and will join the team later in India for their upcoming series.
Under the leadership of Najmul Hossain Shanto, Bangladesh is now gearing up for their two-Test and three-T20I series against India, starting on September 19 in Chennai.
The series win over Pakistan has propelled Bangladesh to fourth place in the World Test Championship standings, with 33 points from six matches, including three wins and three losses.
Meanwhile, Pakistan’s poor form continues, with Shan Masood’s team suffering five consecutive Test defeats—three against Australia and two against Bangladesh— in the current World Test Championship cycle.
Pakistan currently holds the eighth spot in the World Test Championship (WTC) points table with 16 points and a win percentage of 19.05%.
This upset defeat has also resulted in a significant decline in the rankings of Pakistan’s top players in the latest Test batter and bowler updates.
