The Swiss maestro turned up at the Flushing Meadows to witness a women’s singles quarter-final between Aryna Sabalenka and Zheng Qinwen and a men’s singles quarter-final between Grigor Dimitrov and Frances Tiafoe. The official X handle (formerly Twitter) of the US Open shared a video of Federer receiving a rousing reception. “Welcome back, legend! Federer, who announced his retirement in 2022, was seen waving at the fans as he was shown on the videoboards at the Arthur Ashe Stadium.

Roger Federer also recently talked about Jannik Sinner’s doping case. “It’s not something we want to see in our sport. This type of news, regardless of whether he did something or not … It’s just noise that we don’t want. Five-time US Open champion, Roger Federer had last competed in the competition in 2019. Back then, he had qualified for the quarter-finals. The Swiss legend had succeeded in winning the US Open title five consecutive times from 2004-08. He also reached the final in 2009 and 2015. Federer retired from professional tennis following the Laver Cup in 2022.
